Jessica was in a place where unique medical conditions are not found often. Through her persistence she found the cause of her pain, healed it, and is moving forward.

Advocating for yourself and not giving up during the process is a key step in Jessica’s story. She had to push through many obstacles to get to the diagnosis. It was a long process, with eight X-rays, chiropractic treatments, a heart monitor for two months, changing primary care doctors, and other tests. Even then, she had to prove to the specialist that she had the condition, which took months of testing and waiting. Jessica had to keep pushing and advocating for herself, even when she felt like giving up. She was also lucky to have her now-husband, a physical therapist, to help her with the process and even recognize the cervical rib.

To advocate for yourself, first find your support system. Jessica found support groups on Facebook for her condition to help her understand the process. When going to doctors, make sure to ask questions and explain your condition in detail. Also, make sure to research the specialist you are seeing, and if possible ask for referrals to get to the right doctor. Finally, don’t be afraid to ask for help and don’t give up. With enough perseverance, Jessica was able to get the diagnosis and treatment she needed.

Validate Yourself.

If you’re feeling it, feel it.

It is also important to be your own advocate when it comes to treatment. Jessica had to learn to trust her intuition and advocate for her own wellbeing. At times, she was told her condition was all in her head, but she knew that it was something more. With her husband’s help, she researched her options and found the best treatments for her condition. She also had to learn to say no to treatments that weren’t beneficial to her. Learning to advocate for yourself takes time and practice. It is important to remember that you are the best judge of your own health. Jessica’s story is a testament to how important it is to keep pushing even when it seems impossible. With enough determination and perseverance, anything is possible.

It is quite common for people to experience a sense of closure and relief after receiving a diagnosis. Jessica was no different. After months of various tests and appointments, she was thankful to have a name to her condition. Finally having a name to the symptoms she was experiencing was a huge step in the right direction. It gave her a sense of control and direction in her care. She was now able to understand her condition and begin searching for treatments to help her heal. In addition to the sense of relief and validation, Jessica also felt a sense of hope. She knew that she was now on a path to recovery, and that she would eventually be able to experience a life free of pain. She was able to look forward to a future where she could finally be free of the pain and discomfort she had been dealing with for so long. This sense of hope was invaluable to her, and she was grateful to finally have a diagnosis in order to begin her journey to recovery.

Jessica Collins’ story is a testament to the power of advocating for oneself during a difficult medical journey. By having regular X-rays done, seeking help from a physical therapist, and getting referred to an Orthopedic doctor, Jessica was able to get the diagnosis and treatment she needed. Despite the challenges she faced, she was able to stay determined and persevere to get the validation and relief she was looking for. Her story is a reminder to us all that no matter how difficult the journey is, we can achieve the same result if we stay focused and never give up.
